Description

The Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks faculty candidates for the Division of Neurohospital Medicine. Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents and is home to the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, 20-bed Neurological Critical Care Unite (NCCU), and Level 1 trauma center in Suffolk County. On-site support for inpatient stroke alerts (including the ED) handled by the vascular neurology team and interventionalists. In the outpatient setting, our faculty lead several nationally recognized, highly regarded subspecialty centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders. Ancillary services include MRI/PET capabilities, EEG, EMG/NCV, and infusion therapy.

This faculty position represents an exciting opportunity to join a collegial academic practice as the Department of Neurology expands its neuroscience service line.

Responsibilities include:

• Week-day coverage of the general neurology inpatient and general consult service with limited teleneurology support.

• Favorable weekend and overnight call responsibility.

• Supervision of neurology residents, Advanced Practice Providers (APP's), and students.

• Outpatient clinical opportunities are also available.

• Candidates will also have the opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, or research programs to suit their unique academic interests.

To qualify, applicants must be a Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Neurologist interested in hospital-based patient care and clinical teaching. Candidates with experience or interest in both general as well as stroke neurology are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

MD degree (or foreign equivalent). Eligibility for New York State licensure. Completion of an accredited Neurology residency program. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology. Strong interest in hospital-based patient care and clinical teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with experience or interest in both general as well as stroke neurology are encouraged to apply. Research interest is desirable.
