Summary

Remote Position

The purpose of the Systems Analyst position is to provide solutions for admissions business processes, employing various admissions systems, identifying the most efficient processes for the institution's enrollment goals, determining the solution that will actually accomplish the business area's true needs and protecting the department's data assets. The steps needed to do this are: analyze and document the current business process, solicit and define solutions, record process descriptions, define possible solutions, identify business risks and mitigations, estimate costs, identify resources, recommend and justify solutions. Once the project is approved, managing project resources (both internal and external), assisting with project tasks (both functional and technical tasks based on the needs), providing regular updates to project stakeholders and sponsors, identifying issues with appropriate solutions and guiding the project to a successful and timely implementation. This position is the link between functional areas (interpreting their needs) and technical areas (constantly learning new technologies to support enrollment strategies) as well as the various campus partners that leverage admissions systems and data. The Systems Analyst will provide guidance on the processing and/or technical resources of freshmen, transfer, graduate, College Credit Plus, domestic, international, Main Campus, Firelands Campus, and BGSU Online prospects, inquiries, and application generation and completion.

Essential Functions

Project Management

• Develop project plans including scope, scheduling and issue tracking components

• Identify resources needed to complete project effort on time

• Collects and analyzes business requirements

• Facilitates project meetings

• Minimize exposure and risk to BGSU

• Communicates project requirements and needs to management

• Takes input from management and appropriately applies comment/feedback

• Train necessary staff upon completion

System support for Admissions related to Technolutions Slate, CSS, as well as internally developed information system

• Perform system configuration in Slate to support Admissions and campus-wide recruitment efforts and tracking

• Manages interfaces with remote systems by creating and maintaining the import and export of files. Writes programs to interface with existing web services.

• Design and execute test plans and scripts for system testing duties related to upgrades and new feature testing

• Investigate and identify technical solutions to meet identified business processing needs

• Work in role of liaison with Information Technology services related to system development efforts

• Works in conjunction with Application Specialist position to maintain and improve data integration between systems

• Problem solve day to day processing issues

• Document business processes and procedures

• Reviews business practices and processes as it relates to the system, suggest changes for increased efficiency/effectiveness.

Support of data analysis

• Receive requests for and build reports via query tools and/or custom SQL to satisfy data requests from Admissions staff and management as well other BGSU offices and outside entities charged with recruitment

• Create work lists and reports for other units

• Data change management in regards to standard and ad hoc reporting

Support of data reporting

• Facilitate report creation within reporting tool(s), query, and through custom SQL

• Perform data validation

• Stay current on data reporting technologies and tools

Other related duties

• Attend applicable meetings, training and conferences related to the responsibilities of the position

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:

• Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application.

The following Degree is preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or a related field

The following Experience is required:

• 1 year of work experience with computer systems, preferably an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or CRM system, working in configuration, processing and procedure development

• 1 year of experience in programming web-based information systems and business processes

• Effective planning and time management skills; ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously

• Experience in developing written documentation

• Strong knowledge in using report development tools

• Experience in creating test plans

• Ability to meet deadlines

• Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Technolutions Slate systems preferred

• SQL skills, preferably using Oracle a Plus, and evidence of self-learning new languages preferred

Remote Only: This position will be a remote position open to Full-Time US Residents authorized to work within the US. The position is required to work primary during US EST business hours.
