Assistant/Associate Professor, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

Position Summary
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences invites full-time faculty candidates for Assistant/Associate Professor. This 12-month tenure-track position will teach in the Foundational Sciences curriculum.
In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of full-time faculty members at the university include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities.
Final rank will be based on the qualifications of finalist.
Essential Functions
- Develop curriculum content aligned with the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) content outline and expectations of the accrediting bodies. Participate in advancement of the respective program.
- Demonstrate teaching effectiveness related to content expertise, instructional design, instructional delivery, and student engagement which align with curriculum goals.
- Teach as part of an integrated team.
- Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
- Prepare and administer timely and meaningful exams, projects, and assessments for assigned courses.
- Advise students and provide individual help to students during weekly office hours, to include mentoring student/faculty scholarly projects.
- Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook and PT Program Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
- Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
- Perform regular scholarly research and publication.
- Engage in service to the school, university, community, and profession.
- Meet scholarship expectations of both CAPTE and UIW Rank & Tenure Committee.
- Participate in faculty development workshops.
- Maintain contemporary teaching and clinical expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited PT program.
Required Work Experience
- Four (4) years of experience as a licensed physical therapist.
- Prior teaching and/or clinical experience in acute care or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
- Evidence of continual professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in a physical therapy academic program.
- Earned academic (Ph.D., EdD, DSc) degree or currently working towards a terminal doctoral degree.
- Prior clinical instructor experience.
- Active in clinical practice.
- Effective instructional delivery.
- Ability to actively engage students in the learning process.
- Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
- Established research agenda and scholarship.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- Current PT License.
- Current or eligibility to hold a Texas PT license.
- Member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
