Athletic Trainer

UIW Mission

Position Summary
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing quality athletic training services primarily to their assigned student-athletes and supports other staff members with athletic training for all student-athletes at University of the Incarnate Word. The Athletic Trainer reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the NATA Code of Professional Practice.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Ability to communicate and work well with other departments and student athletes.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training.
Graduation from an accredited Athletic Training program.

Required Work Experience

Two (2) years of clinical experience if holding a Master's Degree. Note that Master's Degree by date of assignment will be considered.
Two (2) years of professional experience if holding a Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Athletic Training or affiliated field.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

BOC Certified, Texas licensure or eligible.
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

Work Hours
Typical hours Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility, based on schedule of assigned sport. Note that hours will include some nights and weekends as appropriate.

Physical Demands

Requires lifting of heavy objects including people, and dexterity;
Exposure to extreme weather.
