Position Summary
The Director of Business Office is responsible for planning, directing and managing the daily operations of the Business Office activities for both the university and St Anthony Catholic High School. The position ensures accurate and timely processing of tuition and fee billing, accounts receivable, collections, and financial transactions. The Director also ensures compliance with all UIW policies and procedures as well as rules and regulations promulgated by federal, state, and local agencies. The Director of Business Office reports to the Associate Vice President for Business & Finance/Comptroller.

Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, faculty and community members.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to generate reports that provide insight into financial trends.
  • Knowledge of student receivable operations to ensure that charges and payments are applied accurately and timely.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable, payment, and cashiering systems.
  • Knowledge of student registration functionality, financial aid award processes, and student loan operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable governmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of IRS rules related to 1098-T requirements.
  • Proficiency with financial software and systems (e.g. Banner student module, Accounts Receivable, Transact ePayment) and other cashiering systems.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the business office.
  • Ability to prepare and review work papers for internal and external audits.
  • Ability to analyze, review, and reconcile accounts related to the student and finance module.
  • Ability to effectively work well under pressure, pivot to changing priorities, and meet sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong work ethic; and ability to multitask.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, and community.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Skill in operating a calculator and/or ten key adding machine.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); Banner or similar software experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in accounting or relevant field.

Required Work Experience
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience with business operations or student financial services in higher education. Experience in other relevant area will be considered.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a relevant professional setting.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting.
  • Banner Receivable/Student Module software experience.
  • System reporting experience (i.e. ARGOS)

Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
