Laboratory Manager and Compliance Officer

UIW Mission

Position Summary
The Laboratory Manager and Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the execution of laboratory activities in teaching and research, while ensuring paramount safety related to personnel and materials. The Laboratory Manager and Compliance Officer reports to the Assistant Dean & Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Effective communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently individually as well as in a team.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher.
Ability to eagerly acquire new knowledge and functions to improve work output.
Ability to adapt to and learn existing software and programs used at the school and university.
Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
B.S. or B.A. required in relevant field.

Required Work Experience

Three (3) years of experience working in chemistry, biology, or pharmaceutical laboratory.
1 year and lead or supervisory responsibilities in this field.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two (2) years of experience in handling laboratory equipment and minor troubleshooting of equipment failure with technical help.
Master's Degree in a relevant field.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None specified.

Work Hours
Monday to Friday from 8:00 am -5:00 pm; May be required after hours in rare instance of an emergency related to equipment or personnel.

Physical Demands

Occasionally move materials and equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
Fine motor skills for the appropriate handling of lab equipment and samples.
Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve laboratory materials.
Occasionally ascends/descends a stepladder or stool to access materials.
Near-vision acuity needed for lab work.
Possess depth perception, field of vision and color vision to assess chemicals and reactions.
Must have good hearing to hear lab safety alarms and sirens.
