This position reports to the HVAC Supervisor. Essential Functions Job Duties Knowledge Skills and Abilities <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of Commercial HVAC &amp; refrigeration equipment.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of computer systems pertaining to HVAC operations.</li> <li>Ability to problem-solve and show sound judgment.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of proper and safe use of hand and power tools.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of hazards and procedures for safety measures in area(s) of HVAC specialty, as well as general maintenance and shop safety.</li> <li>Highly skilled in HVAC-related electrical and mechanical repair, service, and maintenance.</li> <li>Skilled at reading /interpreting building prints, schematics, and working drawings.</li> <li>Ability to use and perform basic shop math applications related to HVAC systems.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and pressures.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with others and express ideas effectively and concisely.</li> <li>Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisory staff at all levels, and UIW community to establish and maintain harmonious relations and work environment.</li> <li>Ability to effectively organize, plan and coordinate resources to achieve results.</li> <li>Ability to effectively manage and lead small teams in maintenance/repair jobs.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment with frequently changing priorities.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and in group/team settings.</li> <li>Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.</li> <li>Ablility to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.</li> <li>Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.</li> </ul> Required Education High school diploma or GED. Required Work Experience Five (5) years of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning experience. Preferred Qualifications Seven (7) years of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning experience. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations <ul> <li>Must possess an EPA-Universal refrigerant license.</li> <li> TDLR HVAC Technician Certification (added 2/1/2023).</li> <li> TDLR State of Texas Contractor License (prefered).</li> <li>Possess a valid Texas Drivers License and must be insurable by UIW.</li> <li>Must be 21 years of age.</li> </ul> Work Hours Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed by the department.
