<center><img style="margin:0 auto;display:block" src="https://www.jobelephant.com/banners/4001453.gif"> Associate Dean for Academic Affairs-Rosenberg School of Optometry</center> UIW Mission Position Summary The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs-Rosenberg School of Optometry is responsible for the overall administration of the academic programs of the Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO). The Associate Dean provides leadership and strategic oversight of academic policies, drives curriculum design, and assesses outcomes to ensure alignment with institutional goals. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs-RSO reports to the Dean, Rosenberg School of Optometry. Essential Functions Job Duties Knowledge Skills and Abilities <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of optometry curriculum, accreditation standards, and clinical training requirements.</li> <li>Familiarity with institutional policies, academic governance, and compliance with regulations.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of research methodologies and trends in optometric science.</li> <li>Proficiency in ability to develop and execute long-term academic strategies</li> <li>Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, or similar systems.</li> <li>Strong communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal.</li> <li>Excellent ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.</li> <li>Strong budget management skills.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.</li> <li>Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.</li> </ul> Required Education Doctor of Optometry Degree. Required Work Experience <ul> <li>Ten (10) years of post-graduate experience as an administrator in a school or college of optometry.</li> <li>Five (5) years of experience supervising professional level faculty and staff.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li>Teaching experience in a School or College of Optometry.</li> <li>Clinical teaching experience.</li> <li>Experience in designing, implementing, and assessing academic programs and curricula to align with and meet accreditation standards.</li> </ul> Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Current valid licensure as an Optometrist in the State of Texas with glaucoma certification OR eligible for said licensure with certification and willingness to obtain within 6 months of assignment. Work Hours Monday through Friday&nbsp; 8am to 5pm with extended hours and some weekends as needed to meet departmental goals.
